Erotic Netsuke - Building a collection

Here’s something I have been thinking about. And it goes like this. Today I have bought three small Christmas gifts for my best-friend and they are Erotic Netsuke’s and each is absolutely adorable. In case you don’t know what a Netsuke is…. They are Japanese in origin, though many come from China, too, I believe, and were and are hand carved from Ivory; Mammoth Ivory; Hippo Ivory, etc.

Netsuke is a personal decoration piece dating back to 17th century Japan. The word “Erotica” refers to the Greek word “Eros” which signifies Love. Therefore Erotic Netsuke refers to the work of art that portrays human anatomy and sexual enthusiasm through creative art and thus differentiating itself from commercial pornography. Isn’t it interesting! All are cordially welcomed to see the amazing Erotic Netsukes. With a single click in the mouse the world of “Erotic Netsuke” will come in front of you.

Do you know what “Erotic Netsuke” is called in Japanese Language? Actually it is a Japanese name for Chinese sets of twelve scrolls depicting the twelve sexual acts. It is called “Shunga Netsuke”. These are carved in huge details so that they have great collection and also can gain huge investment value. The carvings are so detailed that they can be divided into Japanese, Chinese and Western Style.

I have always been very happy with my Netsuke collection. And for some strange reason, one day I put in the word ‘Netsuke’ into the search place, and came up with a several sites but the one that i liked the most is Ivory and Art Gallery!!!

I must say in this site I like the world of Netsuke’s very satisfying; and of course buying a lot of them are now becoming sickening, yet, I continue to do it.
